Custom Animated Avatars :: World of Warcraft Commercial
10. January, 2009 from Yaoti team
Tv commercials reveal the online virtual characters of the stars
World of Warcraft is an online role playing game, that has been famous since 2004. You play it online with thousands of others, interacting in a digital world. To begin with you have to create an avatar for your assumed role; choose a faction (2 opposing factions), race (e.g. Orc or Human) and class (e.g. warriors) you want to belong to. The avatar is then a representation of yourself in the World of Warcraft.
To outsiders of the gaming community, World of Warcraft normally has a slightly negative connotation. They ask themselves why anyone wants to invest that much time in this kind of activity? Frankly speaking, players of World of Warcraft are often denounced as nerds!
That is about to change! The game’s new TV commercials show who actually plays World of Warcraft, and what the game stands for, namely to be big, strong, important and manly.
Mr. T, ex member of the A-Team plays as “nightelf-mohawk” a class that has been developed exclusively for him.

We meet the aged Captain Kirk, commander of the Enterprise, in form of a shaman,

and Austin Power’s enemy Mini Me as mage.

The message all of them get across is: we love our virtual characters, and they show who we truly are. So let’s close this with William Shattner’s words ‘Get World of Warcraft there you can be anyone you want.’

As an outsider of this internet gaming community, yet someone who knows a little bit about these games I think “World of Warcraft” shows both sides of a medal. On the one hand it is a good way to express your creativity by creating your own little “Mini Me” just the way you want it to be. In this fictional world you have the opportunity to meet lots of other people from all over the world. Besides the fun it provides, it also strengthens your sense of community.
On the other hand there is a big chance that you might get lost in this online world, because for many players it becomes more than just a spare time activity, it becomes something like a second life. When someone spends more time in front of the computer, killing monsters and collecting stones, there is a big chance that he might neglect his “real” life too much.
In my opinion this game is, just like other games in this genre, nothing bad, but something you should play with a certain amount of responsibility.
You always talk that much? WOW is awesome. You can’t have more fun anywhere else! That’s it.
Well, whoever wrote this is wrong, world of warcraft was launched in 2004, nowhere near 1994 :P
Hello Ulli,
you are absolutely right, WOW was not launched in 1994,
but in 2004.
The mistake has been corrected.
Thank you for the hint.
