Keying is a visual effects technique, which allows to seperate a certain part of an image from its background. For example, an actor is filmed against a colored background, usually green or blue. These colors are considered to be the furthest away from the skin tone. The background then gets erased so that the actor can be put in front of any other background, whether it’s a picture or a video (the actor has been “keyed”). The process of putting the keyed imang together with a new background, is called composition.
