Zehnseiten – online book reading
Zehnseiten, German for “ten pages” - that is the name of a new, German, Internet platform, which strives to represent literature in an aesthetic way on the Internet.
The website’s name says it all – you have the option to choose one of the presented books and watch a featured online video, which shows the author himself, reading out 10 pages to you.
It is a novel combination to put reading and watching videos on the same level. Usually, reading is a rather lonely act, but this website, all of a sudden, introduces the reader to a counterpart.
Zehnseiten gives the author the chance to present his work the way he wants it to be presented, familiarizing the reader with his personal style.
It is also interesting to actually see the author in person. The normal black and white author pictures printed on the back of a book, usually do not get the right impression across.
The site design is kept elegantly plain, the black background is the perfect frame for the black and white author videos. The simple navigation grants an easy and smooth orientation.
The new combination of literature and video might not be every reader’s affair, however, this tool is definitely a treat for audio book lovers.
