A tale of men and shavers

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of a Philips shaver? Right, a chiseled face shaved smoother than a baby’s back by at least 5 super sharp razors. However, what most people forget is that the face is not the only hairy part of a man’s body. Why neglect the others? That is the question Philips is asking in their new campaign.

“Men should be shaved everywhere” is the message and their solution to that is called “Bodygroom”. A shaver designed for a man’s special regions.

And who would you rather listen to talking about this new product than a male, good looking actor who reveals himself to be completely shaved? Now don’t say “a woman”, because we all know the truth about women talking and men listening. And after the actor has told you about how this shaver has changed and affected his body and life you might consider buying it yourself.

This new marketing technique of using real life spokespersons on a website is very innovative and makes sense, because it creates a whole new atmosphere where it feels like you are actually having a conversation. A spokesman adds the necessary personality to the page.

In this particular case the online actor functions as some sort of role model. We all know men are easy to influence and with him doing something like shaving his whole body first, maybe more men will do the same and of course use their own “Bodygroom”.

The whole theme and the way it is presented makes this website something special.

    Awesome campaign! This guy is so funny! Does anybody know his name?
    Thank god there are ads like this one, cuz I think it’s just fair, even if some men don’t think so. I’m sure my boyfriend does;)
    I dunno if I’d looked at this the same if there wasn’t this funny guy talkin to me. You’re right, the spokesman is a very very good tool.
