Daimler AG launches Mercedes-Benz TV
Mercedes Benz offers its website users a new and innovative service - Mercedes-Benz TV. A virtual presenter shows the latest video clips online.
” Fascinating topics centring the world of the star ” states Tanja Bülter, the website’s online presenter.
The videonews are organized in chronological order, it’s easy to browse through them by utilizing a simple back/ next navigation. The design of this navigation is so clever and elegant, that you can catch yourself picking an article even though the topic doesn’t primarily interest you.
The news cover the latest Mercedes innovations, the history of the Mercedes group, and of course lifestyle topics around the brand. A search function and a category distinction help the user to find topics of interest.
Every single news is introduced by the presenter individually, this gives the format a character similar to a tv-newscast. All in all this example makes clear that tv and Internet start to become a more and more inseperable unit.
The rising number of video broadcast and wepodcast platforms illustrates the importance of the moved image. A website presenter, as shown in this example, follows as corollary of web tv.
Miss Bülter does of course not forget about the English speaking users of Mercedes-Benz TV, but maybe a native speaking colleague would have been a good alternative in this case, the success of the “German-English” remains to be seen.
