The Rorschach Test as online quiz

The new Warner Brothers movie “Watchmen” will be in US cinemas next week.

Like every Hollywood production, this one has a trailer to promote the movie and attract the audience.

In this particular case, however, Warner Brothers came up with something special. On the promotion site “Six minutes to midnight” you can only watch the ten minute trailer if you prove your skills in a quiz.

This is how it works: The character Rorschach takes the user on a journey; by quickly guessing the pictures in an inkblot test you can activate other movie characters and further scenes.

This strategy enables and requires the user to participate actively: the trailer is not a simple web video one can watch absent-mindedly, the viewer’s help is required to develop the trailer.

The quiz reflects the movie’s mysterious and dark atmosphere and it also fits the convoluted plot, as you don’t get to know everything right from the beginning.

A successful campaign site, that makes the Watchmen movie trailer something special.
